看似貌不惊人的送水工王老五（李易祥 饰），心中有个令人瞠目结舌的梦想，就是自己写的剧本冲击美国奥斯卡，弄个最佳编剧什么的。他毎天送完水挑灯夜战、乐此不彼，为自己的理想奋斗着。女友海云（陈莹 饰）和未来的岳父（魏宗万 饰）对他的不着边际很是恼火，劝他早日放下幻想干点正事，老五根本不为所动。就在这时，表弟小兵突发奇想，策划了一出超具想象力的选秀活动，把表哥打造成亿万资产继承者，公开为其征婚。消息公布出去，各色美女纷至沓来，赌博般竞争头彩。而王老五则如坠云雾山中，忘记了此时到底是人间还是仙境。在人间百态的挣扎中，周围的一切似乎癫狂了......
