Sometimes we can get stuck in an emotional rut and feel grey and flat and unhappy. I have been in that rut for a while, but I was sitting here just now realising that some really nice things have happened in the last few days. One of them was that on Sunday afternoon I went to a friend’s house and made a picture with an incredible pastel set that I was given two years ago and haven’t ever used. My friend’s daughters looked after Alexa and I played with my colours. How great is that?
And then last night Shawn and I went on a date. We talked and laughed and caught up and it was such a nice evening.
And on Saturday I had a friend from Canada to stay who I haven’t seen in four years. She is just the same (which is a good thing in her case). I fell down the stairs in the middle of the night jarring my back, and it turned out that she is now a massage therapist and was able to sort me out. How providential!
And I was asked to be godmother to my friends’ tiny baby boy, which is a huge honour and a joy.
And I’m reading “Reversed Thunder” by Eugene Peterson about the book of Revelation and it is blowing my mind. I feel like it is feeding me and making me healthier and stronger. I should read books like that more.
Wriing that list has cheered me up. I am now going to go and make a coffee and put something on my feet because they are cold. And while I do that, you can think of nice things that have happened to you lately.
